In order to see what's using the trail when we are not on it, Mr. Dudar's 3rd Grade and Mrs. Scrocca's 2nd Grade Classes set up trail cameras. The cameras are motion activated, and recorded the wild life that walks the same paths as us! This gave us a clear understanding of the populations of different animal species present in our surrounding wilderness. Mr. Dudar's 3rd Graders also included observation notes, as they identified each individual animal based on their unique markings. Also, as part of their non-fiction reading and writing unit, included research reports on the different animals that we have seen, as well as animals that we know may be out there and are hoping to see but have eluded us so far.
