Welcome to the Official Webpage of Haldane's Nature Trail Where the Outdoors, Education, and Technology Come Together!!
Here you will find the work of three classes taught by four teachers from Haldane Elementary and Middle School in Cold Spring, NY. Finding that the outdoors can help inspire students to produce real tangible products to exercise their skills learned in the classroom, Mr. Dudar's 3rd Grade, Mrs. Horn's 6th Grade, Mrs. Scrocca's 2nd Grade classes, and with the help of Mrs. Hoffman the school librarian the students put together a website dedicated to educating the people of Cold Spring on the wonders of the very woods that surrounds them. You will find incredible artwork, stories, documentaries, trail cam photos, population studies, animal reports and info, and much more! Enjoy, and get outside!

What does nature mean to you? To me, nature is the trees and the animals. It is also the air. It is worth saving because there will not be any trees. Then the plants will die. If the plants die, the animals will have nothing to eat and die. Then there will be nothing left. Nature is worth saving.
One thing I learned is that striped skunks can spray up to 10 ft away!
My favorite thing was the population study because I liked watching the viedos and doing the math.

Nature means a lot to me. All the animals and plants are cool, too. Some animals and plants have weird names like "Tapir" and "kapok". If you cut down trees the things that eat plants die. Then things that eat meat dies and kills every thing on the food chain. Nature is worth saving because it keeps us alive. Nature is awesome!
What I learned is that there are less animals in the forest then I expected.
My favorite thing was watching the videos because they show how animals act.

Do you know why nature is important? Nature is very important! Without nature there would be no trees and no plants, and animals would not have a place to live. Deer would die because they eat plants. That is why you should never mess with nature!
One thing I learned is in the winter deer don't move around as much because there is not as much food, so they don't move as much to save energy.
My favorite thing I did was doing the deer project because it was put on the website for everyone to see!

My opinion on nature is that it's very helpful and beautiful mostly. People are destroying nature by cutting down trees and using the area to make cities.
My favorite thing on this website is the trail cam videos because you'll never know what the camera is going to capture. One thing I learned is how to find the population.
